Rhodes Curly Dogs

Here’s a fun idea that I picked up from Rhodes Breads – just a cute way to serve up an old family favorite – the hot dog. I served mine with big bowls of Baked Beans. It was fun, whimsical and we all felt like kids again.

A few tips – use the regular size hot dogs – not the super long ones like I did – you will get more dog wrapped that way. The dinner rolls need to be thawed but still cold. The best way to do that is to take however many you might be using (the recipe calls for 8 – assuming you are cooking up 8 hot dogs – I only used 5) and place them in a plastic bag (like a sandwich bag) in the morning. At the end of the night, the rolls will be thawed, but still cold – hence not beginning to rise, and that makes them easier to work with.

In the summer these would be great to serve at a barbecue alongside some hamburgers and whatever else you might be having – potato or macaroni salads would make great sides.

8 Rhodes™ Dinner Rolls, thawed but still cold
1 package hot dogs, 8 count

Roll each roll into a 14 to 15-inch rope. Twist rope around each hot dog 4 or 5 times, securing ends in dough.

Place on a large sprayed baking sheet.

Bake immediately at 350-degrees 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve immediately with desired condiments for dipping such as mustard and ketchup.
