When All Else Fails – Fresh From the Freezer

buffalo chicken sandwichToday’s recipe isn’t a recipe at all.  Just a little humor to share.  This morning I started the crock pot.  We had planned Shredded Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches.  It’s been on the menu for a while, but life kept getting in the way.  Best laid plans and all.  The recipe is one I picked up at jamiecooksitup.net and it looked super easy.  I loved the fact that I didn’t even need to thaw the chicken first – just toss ’em in the crock pot frozen, pour on the sauce and let ‘er cook all day.  Come home, make some fries and shred the chicken.  What could go wrong?

Some how, some way, in our rush to pack our lunches, fill the travel cups with piping hot French Pressed coffee (this week’s special a medium roast Brazilian Blend) and get out the door, the cord to the crock pot was pulled ever so slightly.  Just enough that no power went to the pot.  So instead of coming home to a wonderful, spicy chicken sandwich, we came home to chicken that was still partially frozen (guess because the crock pot held in the cold).

When all else fails – punt!

Fresh from the Freezer
1 Package of frozen something you forgot was even there
1 Understanding Family

When the power goes out or the cord is pulled and the crock pot fails, rummage through the freezer, reach all the way to the back. You know the shelf where bargains go to die.

Take whatever it is out, pop it in the oven, the microwave or whatever works.

Tell your family how much you love them, and serve it with a smile and a nice tossed salad.
